Few cities offer such quick access to the mountains as Innsbruck. If you like hiking or mountain biking, you will find tours right on the doorstep that are challenging in terms of sport - but also offer great scenery. One of them leads via the Arzler Alm and the Höttinger Alm up to the Bodensteiner Alm. And if you still have energy left in your legs, you can even extend the tour from there to the Seegrube.
Starting point: Innsbruck
Start directly in Innsbruck - for example from Mühlau or Hötting. The route quickly leads out of the city area, into the forest and onto easily passable forest roads. After a short time, you reach the Arzler Alm, a popular hut with a great view of Innsbruck and good food. If you are on your bike, you can take a short breather here - or continue straight away.
From the Arzler to the Höttinger Alm
The route to the Höttinger Alm is pleasant to walk or cycle, mostly in the shade and never too steep. The hut is situated at around 1,480 meters - ideal for a break with a view. The sun terrace invites you to sit down, the food is down-to-earth and delicious. Particularly beautiful: the mixture of city views and mountain tranquillity.
Destination: Bodensteiner Alm
From the Höttinger Alm it gets a little quieter. The path to the Bodensteiner Alm is less frequented, which makes it particularly pleasant. Once you reach the top, a simple, authentic alpine pasture awaits you in a wonderful location. No hustle and bustle, no big crowds - simply a beautiful place to linger. If you're lucky, you'll come across grazing cows and can find a quiet spot on the meadow.
For the sporty: Ascent to the Seegrube
For those who still haven't had enough, the further ascent to the Seegrube is worthwhile. The path becomes steeper and more alpine, but is easily doable - especially for experienced hikers or e-mountain bikers. Once at the top, the panorama opens up over the entire Inntal valley, the Karwendel and far beyond. If you wish, you can take the Nordkettenbahn back to the city from there - or take the same route back down to the valley.
Conclusion
The tour to the Bodensteiner Alm is ideal for anyone who wants to set off directly from Innsbruck into the mountains. Whether by mountain bike or on foot - the route is varied, offers great views and can be extended as the mood takes you. Perfect for a sporty day in the great outdoors without having to travel far.
