In recent years, I have tested many toboggan runs in Tyrol myself – from simple routes for the little ones to slightly longer descents that are still absolutely family-friendly. 1. Gnadenwald toboggan run – Ideal for beginners

Region: Hall-Wattens

Length: approx. 3 km

One of Tyrol's most popular beginner slopes: sunny, flat and wonderfully clear. Perfect for small children and tobogganing novices.

Our tip: Park at St. Martin's Monastery – often less crowded than the main car park.


2. Bergeralm – Family toboggan run in Steinach am Brenner

Region: Wipptal

3. Obernberg toboggan run at Brenner


Region: Wipptal

A fantastic natural toboggan run that leads through an idyllic valley to Lake Obernberg. Ideal for combining with a short winter hike with children.

4. Mutterer Alm toboggan run – a family classic

Region: Mutters / Innsbruck

7. Lehnberghaus toboggan run – Obsteig

Length: approx. 3 km

A very child-friendly trail with a moderate incline. The route from Lehnberghaus is ideal for a family outing with a stop at a mountain hut.

Highlight: Fantastic view of the Mieminger mountain range.


8. Gleirschtal toboggan run – pure nature experience


Region: Sellraintal valley

Length: approx. 3–4 km

If you love peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The toboggan run in the Gleirschtal valley offers spectacular scenery and is ideal for families looking for natural tobogganing without too much hustle and bustle.

Our tip: particularly atmospheric in the morning when the sun shines into the valley.


9. Maria Waldrast toboggan run

Region: Matrei am Brenner

Length: approx. 3 km

Wide, even and absolutely family-friendly. The route leads to the famous Maria Waldrast monastery – a lovely outing for young and old alike.

Tip: Warm cocoa at the monastery inn is a must!


10. Glungezer toboggan run – panoramic views included

Region: Tulfes / Hall

Length: approx. 2.5 km

A wonderfully family-friendly route with impressive views over the Inn Valley. The mountain railway makes the ascent much easier.

Highlight: Combination of tobogganing and panoramic winter hiking possible.
