The Aspachhütte above Innsbruck: the quiet insider tip with fantastic views

Sometimes the adventure starts right on your doorstep, with a hike starting from Höttinger Gasse in the centre of Innsbruck that takes you far away from the hustle and bustle in just a few hours - up to the Aspachhütte, a place of tranquillity with one of the most beautiful views of the Inn Valley.

It's amazing how quickly you can immerse yourself in the mountains from the city. Less than an hour - and you're standing between old trees, breathing in the cool mountain air and hearing nothing but your breath and the rustling of the forest.

A way to come down

The start is in the centre of the town. From Höttinger Gasse, the route first follows a tarmac path and then a wide, pleasant gravel path up to Höttinger Bild - a small pilgrimage site in the middle of the forest. The route continues to the Rauschbrunnen, a cosy inn with a beautiful panoramic terrace. It's worth taking a short break here - or setting off from here by bike: perfect for a bike & hike tour.

From the Rauschbrunnen, the path becomes narrower and wilder. You hike along an enchanted path that runs along a small gorge through dense mountain forests and quiet meadows. The hustle and bustle of the city has long since disappeared. What remains is peace and quiet. Nature. Time.

Up at the Aspachhütte - a place to pause for a moment

The Aspachhütte itself is not open to the public - and that's what makes it so special. No noise, no crowds, no kiosk. Just you, the mountain and a place where you can just be.

The view is breathtaking: the entire Inn Valley lies at your feet, as far as the Brenner Pass and Italy. It is particularly impressive here at sunrise - when the first light kisses the peaks and the world is completely silent for a moment.
