Sometimes it doesn't take much - just a pair of good hiking boots, fresh mountain air and a destination that makes both your heart and stomach happy. This is exactly what the hike to the Gern Alm feels like.
It starts in Pertisau, right at the entrance to the Karwendel valley. The path to the alpine pasture is easy to walk, even with children - perfect for anyone who just wants to get out and about. After about 1.5 hours of leisurely walking through forests and past alpine meadows, the valley opens up - and there it is: the Gern Alm. In the middle of nature, quiet, friendly and really inviting.
Whether it's a cool drink on the sun terrace, a Tyrolean gröstl or a slice of homemade cake - it simply tastes twice as good here. There's a playground for children and a spot with a view for those seeking peace and quiet.
If you want, you can hike further towards the Plumsjochhütte. Or you can simply stay put, take a deep breath - and enjoy.
To summarise: a relaxed hike, fantastic scenery and genuine
