The Tyrolean Alps are a true paradise for hikers, and one of the most beautiful routes leads from the Bergeralm to the Lichtsee lake. This hike combines spectacular scenery, idyllic tranquillity and breathtaking views and promises an unforgettable experience. Join me on this special trail through the Tyrolean mountains.
Starting point: Bergeralm
The Bergeralm is located in the Stubai Alps, part of the Central Alps in Tyrol. Situated at an altitude of around 1,200 meters, it can be easily reached by cable car from Steinach am Brenner. Even the ride up offers impressive views of the Wipptal valley and whets the appetite for the adventure ahead.
The ascent
The hiking trail starts from the Bergeralm in the direction of the Lichtsee lake. Well signposted, it leads through a picturesque landscape characterized by green meadows, dense forests and impressive rock formations. The path meanders gently uphill and offers repeated opportunities to enjoy the view. Especially in summer, numerous alpine flowers bloom along the path, giving the ascent a special charm.
Above the tree line
After about an hour, you reach the tree line. Here the landscape opens up and the view of the surrounding mountain peaks becomes clear. The terrain becomes a little rockier, but remains easy to walk on. It is worth taking regular breaks to take in the impressive silence and vastness of the mountain world.
Arrival at the Lichtsee
After around two hours of hiking, you will reach the lake of light, which lies at an altitude of around 2,100 meters. The lake, which takes its name from the fascinating play of lights on the surface of the water, is nestled in an imposing mountain setting. The clear, blue water invites you to take a well-earned rest. Here you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and have a picnic.
If you still haven't had enough, you can continue the hike from the Lichtsee lake into the Obernberg valley. The descent into the valley leads through varied landscapes and always offers new, impressive views. Once at the bottom, follow the course of the valley to the Obernberg lake. This idyllic mountain lake lies at an altitude of around 1,590 meters and is another highlight of the region. Its deep blue color and the surrounding mountains make it the perfect destination for an extended day of hiking.
Way back
The way back from here can either follow the same route or, for the more adventurous, take alternative paths that reveal further facets of this impressive mountain world. The descent to the Bergeralm is easier, but allows you to review the experiences of the day and offers new perspectives on the landscape you have already hiked through.
Conclusion
The hike from the Bergeralm to the Lichtsee lake and on into the Obernberg valley to the Obernberger See lake is a must for every nature lover and hiking enthusiast. This route offers a perfect combination of physical challenge and scenic beauty. So, grab your hiking boots and set off on an unforgettable adventure in the Stubai Alps!
